Quickie Update

The internet point. Convenient, but not exactly leisurely. That's where I'm writing from, in Città di Castello, so this will be brief, but hopefully entertaining and informative.

It's hot as the hottest thing you can imagine. I won't go into it.

We've got a cat. Sort of. Word on the hillside is that the Italians enjoy the feeding of stray cats. This little guy saw "sucker" written all over Will and me. He would roll up to the house (we've been staying at Will's folks' place in Umbria... "the country" if you will) when we were eating and try to get real friendly. We tried and tried to shoo him away -- Will even got really serious with the water hose for a day. Finally, we realized that il gatto has a will to eat daily that overpowers our will to interrupt dinner. That, mixed with a tiny bit of feeling bad for the poor starving little bugger, and we've got a pet.

A note to Maura and Larry, Will's parents, in case you're reading: Il gatto sta fuori. Solo fuori. He's tried to slip in, but we stand firm on that. (for those of you without my stellar language skills, the cat stays outside.)

It looks likely that we're going to silent camp on August 12. That's right, I am going to attempt ten days of silent meditation. Why? Well, why not?

Then it's off to the South of France for a week of beach fun with Matt and Fany.

It's all in extremes here, but life is good.
